ABOUT US

British Columbia Agricultural Exposition Society

The BC Agricultural Exposition Society’s annual Expo highlights the benefits of supporting and promoting agriculture through our youth. Over 225 dedicated 4-H youth will gather to celebrate their hard work and dedication to their projects.

Included with numerous entertaining and educational events are a variety of interesting displays and vendors. Our live auction also gives you the opportunity to take home some top quality meat from the beef, sheep and goat projects, and some beautiful creations from quilting to photography.

Location

Our fair is hosted at the North Thompson Fall Fair Grounds & Agriplex in Barriere BC. This is an amazing facility that accommodates our livestock and non-livestock projects for the fair.

Beef and Sheep projects will be located inside the Agriplex along with the display of the carcass cooler, photography and clothing projects, wash racks and washroom and shower facilities. Horse projects will be exhibited in the outdoor light horse arena while the Dog, Goat and Rabbit divisions are each exhibited in smaller outdoor barns with attaching show rings.

BC Ag Expo Office

The BC Ag Expo office is located above the curling rink across from the Annex. At the Expo office members and open contributors can pick up their entry packages once they arrive. Sign up sheets for group classes will be at the tables as you come in. There will be volunteers in the office at all times to help out and answer any questions you may have. The office gets very busy and we will do our best to accommodate everyone as soon as possible.

Awards & Dance

The annual Awards and dance is held the Sunday of the Fair starting at 7:00pm; conveniently  located on the North Thompson Fair Grounds. The evening  is a great way to celebrate the 4-H members' success during the fair.  Many individual and club awards are presented for judging, aggregate, stall competition, citizenship and more.  Everyone is welcome to attend the Awards!

In 2021 we will be trying a new format for our Awards presentations as there will not be a formal sit down banquet.  Stay tuned for more info!

Camping & Accommodations - Food & Vendors

DRY CAMPING is available on site. Local campgrounds are nearby if you require hook-ups and there are many good motels in Barriere if you require lodging; Monte Carlo Motel, Barriere Motor Inn, Mountain Springs Motel and RV Park and Y-5 Motel & Campground. Please advise us if you will be camping onsite at the Agriplex by filling in the camping registration form (CA1)and returning ahead of time to help with allocation of parking lot space for our registered clubs and open contributors.

We will have food and beverage trucks on site. As well the concession in the curling rink which will serve breakfast and lunch daily. In town there is the Station House Restaurant, Subway, A&W, Sam's Pizza, Armour Mountain Restaurant and Bear Lane Bistro.

Our logo

Our logo's three intertwined squares represent youth, community and business. The center square representing youth is red to reflect leadership, action, vibrancy and energy. The yellow square represents community and the qualities of optimism, warmth and happiness. The green square represents business, sustainability and generosity.
